BudgetMe Pro in 72 seconds 72 s

Every bill and paycheck on a calendar, so you see your balance on any date.

Transcript

Do you know what your balance will be the day before your next payday?

Your bank shows today’s balance. Not Thursday’s.

Rent, the car note, the light bill all land the week before payday.

Paid every two weeks, that’s about 13 paydays in the next six months. Every one of them is a guess. And one wrong guess can cost an overdraft fee or a late fee.

Now picture your next payday. You already know which bills it covers, and what’s left after them.

BudgetMe Pro™ is a tool to help you see and manage your cash flow, paycheck by paycheck. It maps every bill and paycheck onto a calendar, so you see your balance on any date. Safe to spend, worked out to the day.

Two jobs? Add every paycheck. When one comes up short, the others can carry it.

Many budgeting apps charge by the month or by the year. BudgetMe Pro is free to start. Unlock the full app for $19.99, paid once. Less than one average overdraft fee.

Your next payday is already on the way. Make it the first one you plan instead of guess.

Your first 90 days 68 s

What to expect in your first three months, month by month.

Transcript

Setup takes a few minutes. Getting good at it takes about 3 months.

Here’s why. BudgetMe Pro™ is only as accurate as what you put in, and some of your money only shows itself over time.

In 3 months, every monthly bill comes around 3 times. Every quarterly bill shows up once. And if you’re paid every two weeks, you see 6 or 7 paychecks.

Month 1: map it. Expect it to be messy. Bills you forgot will turn up. That’s the system working. Add it. Don’t start over.

Month 2: tune it. Use your spending patterns to fix the guesses. Find your tightest month, and what you could pause.

Month 3: trust it. Your payday balance should land close to what the app projected. That’s when safe to spend becomes a number you can act on.

5 minutes every payday. A few seconds each time you spend.

A University College London study found a new daily habit took a median of 66 days to become automatic.

Set it up tonight or on payday morning. The full guide is at budgetme.pro/start.

Money basics

How banking works, from pending charges to overdraft fees. Educational, not financial advice.

Available balance vs. current balance 40 s

Why your bank shows two balances.

Transcript

Your bank shows two balances. They’re not always the same number.

Your current balance, sometimes called the ledger balance, doesn’t subtract purchases that are still pending.

Your available balance is what you can use right now. It subtracts pending card purchases, and holds on deposits that haven’t cleared.

Buy $40 of gas this morning, and your available balance drops right away. Your current balance drops when the charge posts.

Don’t assume a deposit is available the moment you make it. Ask when the hold lifts.

BudgetMe Pro™ starts from the balance you enter, and shows what it will be on every date ahead.

Pending transactions and holds 35 s

What pending means, and why pending charges count.

Transcript

Pending means a purchase is approved, but it hasn’t settled yet.

It already lowers your available balance, even though your current balance hasn’t changed.

Settling can take a few days. In a CFPB example, a card purchase approved on day one settles on day three.

And payments don’t always post in the order you made them.

Some banks charge overdraft fees based on your available balance, so pending charges count.

BudgetMe Pro™ lets you update your balance whenever you like, so your calendar starts from what’s really there.

How long deposits take 43 s

When payday money and checks are actually there to use.

Transcript

Payday says the money’s in. When can you actually use it?

A direct deposit must be available the next business day after the bank receives it, and many banks make payroll available right away.

Some banks release pay up to two business days early, depending on when your employer sends it. It isn’t guaranteed.

Checks are different. The first $275 is generally available the next business day, and the rest can take longer.

New accounts, very large deposits and repeated overdrafts can mean longer holds.

BudgetMe Pro™ lets you set how early each paycheck lands, so your calendar matches when the money is really there.

Overdraft vs. NSF fees 53 s

What happens when your account comes up short.

Transcript

Your account comes up short. What happens next depends on your bank, and what you agreed to.

If the bank pays the transaction anyway, that’s an overdraft, and it can charge an overdraft fee.

If the bank declines or returns it, it can charge a non-sufficient funds fee, often the same amount. The merchant may charge a returned item fee too.

For ATM withdrawals and one-time debit card purchases, banks can’t charge an overdraft fee unless you opt in. Checks and recurring payments are different.

Some banks let you link a savings account to cover a shortfall. There’s usually a fee, but it’s usually much lower than an overdraft fee.

In 2025, the average overdraft fee was $26.77.

BudgetMe Pro™ shows the date your balance is projected to go below zero, before it happens.

Grace periods vs. late fees 34 s

A due date and a late fee aren’t always the same day.

Transcript

A due date and a late fee aren’t always the same day.

Some bills give you a few days after the due date before a late fee. Others charge it right away.

Your mortgage statement has to show the late fee, and the date it will be charged.

A credit card payment counts as on time if it arrives by the cutoff on the due date, and that cutoff can’t be earlier than 5 p.m.

For rent, it depends on your lease and the law where you live. Check your lease.

Grace windows and late-fee labels sit right on your bills.

Every two weeks isn’t twice a month 34 s

26 paychecks vs. 24, and why averages mislead.

Transcript

Paid every two weeks, or twice a month? It sounds the same. It isn’t.

Twice a month is 24 paychecks a year.

Every two weeks is 26. 52 weeks, divided by two.

So most months bring two paychecks, and usually two months a year bring a third.

An average makes every month look the same. In a two-paycheck month, it counts money that isn’t there.

BudgetMe Pro™ never averages. It counts the actual paydays in each month.

Cash flow vs. budget 31 s

Under budget for the month, and still short on the 20th.

Transcript

A budget asks: how much can I spend this month?

Cash flow asks: will the money be there on the day the bill is due?

You can be under budget for the month, and still come up short on the 20th.

That happens when bills land before the paycheck that covers them.

BudgetMe Pro™ is a tool to help you see and manage your cash flow, paycheck by paycheck. It maps every bill and paycheck onto a calendar, so you see your balance on any date.

Sinking funds 31 s

Setting a little aside each paycheck for bills you know are coming.

Transcript

Some bills aren’t surprises. They just don’t come every month.

Car insurance. The registration. Holiday gifts. School supplies.

A sinking fund is money you set aside a little at a time, for a cost you know is coming.

Divide the cost by the paychecks between now and the due date. A $400 bill, eight paychecks away, is $50 a paycheck.

With the full app, Goals does the math, and shows the date you’ll get there.
